Original & Exclusive Programming: Under the new U.S. State Department rules, CubaNetwork parent Caribbean Broadcasting Network became the first and only U.S. entertainment company to secure exclusive rights to telecast all classic, current and future Cuban video content and is partnered with RTV Comercial of Cuba (RTVC).

Captivating Programming Lineup: The network’s library includes Cuban-made documentaries, TV movies, telenovelas and age-targeted entertainment series. The network also has exclusive rights to many live Cuban sporting events including baseball, boxing, basketball and soccer.

New English-language studio in Havana: In addition to its headquarters in Hollywood, CubaNetwork will open an office and production facility in Havana. From there, CubaNetwork and RTVC will co-produce English-language programs including a daily live show featuring news headlines, lifestyle reports, music, sports, interviews and local stories directly from Cuba.

CubaNetwork Everywhere: Select programming will also be available on CubaNetwork’s multi-platform offerings such as video on demand, and via a new mobile app.

Keith Bass is the founder and CEO of Caribbean Broadcast Network and its affiliate, CubaNetwork.

He founded CBN in 2004. This broadcasting company, headquartered in Hollywood, owns and operates five television stations in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. These stations include the Fox Broadcasting affiliate, WSJX, and CW affiliate, WSJP, on Puerto Rico; the Fox station WEON and NBC affiliate, WVGN, in the U.S. Virgin Islands; and the THIS station, WVXF, for the entire Caribbean region.

Before founding CBN, Bass was the founder and CEO of HomesDirect, which he started in 1998. This Internet-based auction service transacted more than a billion dollars in property each year. HomesDirect was later sold to eBay.

Bass holds a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science. He also earned a Master’s Degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California.

Bass is a serial entrepreneur, known for recognizing trends such as the value of using the Internet to view properties and sell homes. His latest venture will satisfy America’s curiosity about Cuban arts, travel and entertainment.

COO, Caribbean Broadcasting Network

Samata oversees the ongoing business operations of CBN and its affiliate, CubaNetwork. She focuses on optimization and efficiency, actively conceptualizing the business development strategy for the broadcast and cable operations. She has been in this role since 2004.

Previous to this telecommunications venture, Samata worked with CBN founder and CEO Keith Bass at a previous business, HomesDirect, an Internet-based property auction service. From 1998 to 2001, she served as chief technology officer and supervised all day-to-day operations, including product development, project management and network administration. That venture was eventually sold to eBay, where Samata continued to lead HomesDirect’s technology department for two more years.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics and a Master’s Degree in computer science, both from the University of Bucharest, Romania.

Samata is a perfectionist. At each step of her career, she has strived to leverage her technical expertise and acquire expansive knowledge in business development, sales, and marketing.

Head of Programming and Production, CubaNetwork

Braga joined CubaNetwork in 2015 to guide utilization of the programming library acquired from Cuba; and to shepherd new productions for the entertainment media brand.

From 2011 to 2013 Braga was vice president of programming for Azteca America, where she oversaw the 360-degree programming strategy for the U.S. Spanish-language broadcast network division of the Mexican media company.

Also she worked at NuvoTV as its vice president of programming. There, Braga developed a principal program strategy to attract adults 18-49 for the English language, Latino-focused cable network. In addition, she collaborated closely with senior management to re-brand the network from SíTV.

Her longest tenure was as director of programming for three History USA Brands, where she oversaw development, programming and productions for pilots, series, and specials for The History Channel, History Channel International (formerly H2 and now VICELAND) and History en español.

Braga has a Bachelor’s Degree in political science from George Washington University; and a Master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Braga’s early career includes stints as a producer for ABC News and for noted broadcaster Bill Moyers; and for the nationally syndicated newsmagazine program, Hispanics Today, airing on NBC O&O stations.

Senior Strategic Advisor, CubaNetwork

Cable network sales veteran Berry is in charge of negotiating affiliate agreements between CubaNetwork and cable operators and streaming services.

Berry was one of the founding executives of Galavision, the first Spanish-language cable network. He directed the launch of the channel in all U.S. markets, eventually earning the title of vice president, sales and marketing.

Berry has also served as vice president for Fox Broadcasting, responsible for affiliate sales and relations for MundoFOX. Berry also served as senior consultant to Una Vez Mas Television Group, the largest affiliate group of broadcaster Azteca America.

He has also advised or held management positions at networks including Showtime/The Movie Channel, Discovery Channel and Prime Sports.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in communications from the University of Texas at Austin; and an MBA from the Thunderbird School of International Management.

CubaNetwork is not Berry’s first channel launch. He handled affiliate sales/marketing for LATV, the first channel targeted to the U.S. Latino youth market. LATV went from a three-hour, local station programming block to a national network reaching 40 million television homes during his tenure.
